Capy Castaway Hats Guide

Hats are a headline joy in Capy Castaway. Previews repeatedly show Capy turning everyday objects into headwear, and demo impressions call out the delight of picking things up with the mouth and immediately wearing them. Kitten Cup Studio leaned into that fantasy because it matches the game’s Toronto-inspired whimsy—lost things gathered on an island where curiosity beats combat.

This guide helps you hunt hats without inventing a fake spreadsheet of unreleased items. Patterns first; verified names after the August 6, 2026 Steam launch.

How hat hunting works in practice

Hat discovery is mostly interaction literacy:

  1. Interact with everything that looks portable—pots, signs, toys, produce, machine prizes.
  2. Watch for wear prompts after pickups; some objects need a second confirm.
  3. Talk to NPCs while wearing oddities—reactions can be the real reward in Swallow Town.
  4. Note locations in the Collectibles Checklist using landmark nicknames.
  5. Revisit zones after story shifts; new props may appear after the Soup Competition or flood beats.

If an object does not become a hat, it may still be a Trinket worth logging.

Ground versus air hat routes

Capy handles ground-level props: stalls, mud patches, dock edges, and gacha dispenses (Gacha Machine). Corvi handles elevated candidates—rooftops, branches, and ledges Capy cannot reach alone (Corvi).

Before declaring a zone hat-complete, run Corvi along the skyline once. Solo players control both characters; co-op pairs can split scout and interact roles (Duo Combos).

Solo versus co-op hat goblins

Solo players should still scout roofs before moving on. Co-op pairs can assign one player as dedicated hat goblin while the other advances quests—hilarious, slightly chaotic, very on-brand (Co-op & Remote Play).

Remote Play Together guests may see slight delay on wear animations. Take turns on pulls if both players care about gacha outcomes.

Demo expectations in Swallow Town

Swallow Town and related demo spaces are rich in interactive props. The updated demo adds co-op, deeper story glimpses, and machine activities alongside hat-friendly clutter.

Do not assume demo hats equal the full launch list. Use demo hunts as training for verbs described in How to Play. Interface languages in the demo include English, Japanese, and Brazilian Portuguese—handy if you want to compare flavor text on wearable jokes.

Spoiler etiquette and post-launch catalogs

This page avoids inventing named legendary hats. When the community catalogs them after launch, we will add verified tables rather than rumors.

If you stream or share screenshots, consider blurring story-sensitive NPC reactions when wearing specific props—some comedy may tie to quest state.

Adjacent systems that feed hats

Digging can unearth wearables (Capy). Fetching can deliver hat candidates from height. The demo gacha dispenses toys that may become immediate headwear. Some “hats” begin as trinkets until you discover the wear prompt.

Kindness quests (Help Castaways) sometimes reward cosmetic flair alongside narrative warmth—check deliveries before leaving town.

Comfort and menu tips

If cosmetic menus exist in your build, favorite your funniest look before a livestream or family session. Corvi will probably comment either way.

Launch pricing has been communicated around $17.99 USD with possible launch-week discounts—confirm on Steam before buying extra copies for hat-hunting friends.

Mark Sparling soundtrack and vibe

The announced OST from Mark Sparling (known for A Short Hike) fits slow hat tourism. Wander at reduced speed, listen for playful stingers near stalls, and let the island breathe. Hat completion is optional; smiling at a teapot helmet is mandatory.

Tracking and endings

Hat percentage likely will not gate story completion, but we will verify after launch. Track branching choices separately in the Endings Tracker if you care about multiple finales (Multiple Endings).

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Can Corvi wear hats?

Marketing and demo footage center the hat fantasy on Capy. Corvi’s role is fetch, commentary, and aerial scouting—not headwear comedy.

Do I need all hats for endings?

Unknown until the full game ships. Track story choices in the [Endings Tracker](/tools/endings-tracker/) separately from cosmetic completion.

Where do I log finds?

Use the [Collectibles Checklist](/tools/collectibles-checklist/) with region nicknames pre-launch, then refine names after community verification.

Does the gacha give hats?

Demo pulls dispense playful toys—some may become wearables. See [Gacha Machine](/collectibles/gacha-machine/) for approach tips.

Best demo zone for hats?

Swallow Town—see [Swallow Town Guide](/locations/swallow-town/) and [Exploration Tips](/locations/exploration-tips/) for search routines.
